📝 Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the Platform & Ecosystem team and own Unity’s Package Manager solution.

Unity's Package Manager is a critical, foundational technology that empowers millions of developers worldwide to build, share, and ship content efficiently. It is the core delivery mechanism that enables our ecosystem to thrive, ensuring developers have seamless, reliable access to the tools, features, and assets they need, directly within the Unity Editor.

This is a high-impact role where you will be a key leader, shaping how developers discover, integrate, and manage software within the Unity platform. You will own the product strategy and roadmap for Unity’s entire package management solution, making this a truly central and influential position. The role requires extensive collaboration with internal cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and program managers, as well as external partners.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Define and Evangelize the Strategy: Develop and own the strategic vision and detailed roadmap for Package Management, a critical ecosystem area, ensuring alignment across internal teams, partners, and customers.
  • Drive Execution: Cultivate solid relationships with Engineering counterparts, acting as a dynamic duo to lead product areas and drive execution hand-in-hand.
  • Lead Product Delivery: Drive product delivery as a hands-on Product Owner, from ideation to launch. This includes authoring detailed product requirements, as well as managing the product backlog and participating in agile ceremonies.
  • Manage Planning Cycles: Lead Partner on the quarterly planning process for the product area, including synthesizing many inputs, defining scope and dependencies, and presenting the final plan to secure alignment and resources.
  • Resolve Technical Ambiguity: Navigate complex technical challenges that span the company and partners (dependencies, versioning, deployment) to define clear, high-impact product initiatives.
  • Manage Dependencies: Identify product dependencies and competing priorities between internal roadmaps and strategic partner schedules.
  • Communicate Vision: Articulate product vision and status to executive leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated experience managing a large set of internal and external stakeholders for a product that serves as a core platform dependency.
  • Deep Technical Acumen: Expertise in evaluating complex technology stacks across multiple systems (e.g., package installation/versioning, game engines, cloud services, and external APIs).
  • Exceptional Communication: Proven track record of effectively simplifying and articulating complex technical concepts to all audiences, from engineers to senior executives.
  • Influence and Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, leveraging negotiation skills.
