ROLE OVERVIEW

\n

Benchling is seeking a Product Manager to join our Internal Developer Productivity team. This team plays a crucial role in enabling Benchling’s engineering organization to build and scale faster, with higher quality and confidence. You’ll work closely with engineers, tech leads, and engineering managers to understand their development workflows, identify friction points, and define solutions that make shipping software at Benchling simpler and more efficient.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a product manager who is passionate about internal platforms or an engineer that wants to make the jump into product management. You’re someone that enjoys working closely with engineering and thrives on solving foundational problems that unlock leverage across a growing R&D software company. You’ll be part of the broader Platform, Automation, & Infrastructure organization and help evolve the tools and processes that power Benchling’s engineering excellence.

\n

RESPONSIBILITIES

\n
    \n
  • Drive product discovery and execution for the Developer Productivity team
  • \n
  • Partner closely with engineers and tech leads to understand pain points in development workflows
  • \n
  • Prioritize initiatives that improve developer experience, reduce friction, and accelerate delivery
  • \n
  • Define product requirements and success metrics, and collaborate with engineering to ensure smooth execution
  • \n
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination to align on tooling and standards
  • \n
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by gathering feedback, measuring impact, and iterating on internal tools and processes
  • \n
\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n
    \n
  • 1–2 years of product management or equivalent experience, ideally with some exposure to internal tooling, developer platforms, or infrastructure-facing teams
  • \n
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build trust with engineering partners and internal users
  • \n
  • Curious and systems-minded — you enjoy digging into how things work and identifying where process or tooling can improve outcomes
  • \n
  • Comfortable operating in technical domains, even if you don’t have an engineering background
  • \n
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • \n
  • A strong sense of ownership and drive to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • \n
\n

\nWhy are you being asked to complete this form?\n

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

\n

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
